Brighton Stitch creates thoughtfully made bags and accessories from repurposed and reclaimed textiles.
I’m Lindsay, an independent maker in Brighton. I design and sew each piece myself, using carefully chosen linen, cotton, denim, vintage and reclaimed fabrics.
I make practical pieces for people who value craftsmanship, individuality and thoughtful reuse, whether that’s a one-of-a-kind everyday bag, a handmade laptop sleeve or a treasured textile transformed into something useful.
Featured Pieces
The South Downs Tote is inspired by Autumn hues in the park and made from a dead-stock stair runner, 100% jute. I have transformed into a practical everyday bag with a clean, contemporary feel.
It features warm rusty terracotta with woven stripes in olive, navy, charcoal and natural tones. Strong pure cotton webbing handles provide comfortable shoulder carry and plenty of strength for everyday use.
Designed to be simple, useful and versatile, this tote is large enough for shopping, library books, knitting projects, work essentials or a day out by the sea.
Like every Brighton Stitch piece, it is handmade in small batches using carefully selected reclaimed and repurposed textiles, giving beautiful fabrics a second life.

Care
Spot clean where possible. Hand wash gently if required and allow to air dry.
A one-of-a-kind laptop sleeve handmade from carefully selected Liberty cotton fabric remnants and pale blue denim.
The front features a quilted design created from small pieces of Liberty print, giving new life to beautiful fabrics that might otherwise have gone to waste. The reverse is finished in soft pale blue denim, providing a calm contrast to the patchwork front.
Inside, the sleeve is lined with lilac Liberty cotton and padded with foam for structure and protection. A metal zip closure keeps your laptop secure whilst allowing easy access.
Designed to fit many 13-inch laptops, this sleeve combines practical protection with thoughtful craftsmanship and the charm of repurposed textiles.

Each Brighton Stitch piece is individually made in small batches using reclaimed and carefully sourced textiles, celebrating quality fabrics and giving them a second life.
A joyful patchwork pouch made from colourful strips of Liberty lawn, paired with reclaimed denim for a beautifully practical everyday bag.
The patchwork began with the remnants left from making my Liberty cleansing cloths. Rather than consigning those narrow strips to the scrap box, I pieced and quilted them together, creating a completely new textile. Each pouch is backed with reclaimed denim from jeans and finished with a coordinating lawn cotton lining.
No two are quite alike. The placement of the Liberty prints varies from pouch to pouch, as does the denim and lining, making each Tutti Fruitti a one-off.
Generously sized for make-up, toiletries, travel essentials, sewing notions, chargers or all those smaller things that otherwise disappear into the bottom of a bag.

When that purpose ends, it doesn’t mean the story is over.
The West Pier was repurposed as a bird sanctuary and iconic landmark. I repurpose stair runners into jute tote bags.
My pieces are made from what already exists, reworked with care into something useful again.
Practical objects, made slowly, from materials that still have life in them.
